Suspect admits role in string of Milwaukee murders

March 17, 2011 | In short replies delivered with a flat, quiet voice, Anthony Barnes answered questions Thursday about his role in the murders of two women and two children last year.

He said he shot Brittney Robertson in the back of the head because his acquaintance of less than two weeks, who had already involved him in three murders and arson that day, had told her she had to go.
"I thought that's what needed to be done," he said.

Barnes, 24, was testifying against his co-defendant, Desmond Dejuan Laster, 22, who is on trial for the deaths of Rachel Thompson, her two sons, ages 3 and 4, and Robertson, her roommate and romantic rival.
Barnes admitted he lied to police through two interrogations before finally admitting his own responsibility in the string of violent felonies driven by Robertson's jealousy and her accomplices' fear of getting caught. »Read Full Article
